Understanding Readings

Hi Everyone

I'm having difficulty understanding why my readings are so haywire.

Particularly - why my average fasting reading of 7.2 before breakfast can jump to an average of 9.4 two hours after breakfast. Breakfast is only porridge made with water and 'pretend' sugar.

By contrast my pre-dinner reading average is 6.2 and only goes to 7.5 after two hours.

Cheers

Bob (Metformin 850mg x 3)

The fasting test is probably influenced by the 'dawn phenomenon' and it looks as if the oats are sending your BG up.Oats are now a banned substance in my house because of the way they send my BG levels sky high!

Hi Bobsummit
What do you mean by "average". Are you refering to a meter reading after a "Finger stick test"?
the average of anything is calculated on a mumber of results.

Hi Hanadr

By average I mean the daily meter readings by time divided by 7 for the week.

I realise that this can give a biased reading overall but the individual readings are pretty consistent

Cheers

Bob
