Type 1 Unplanned Pregnancy - Type 1 Diabetic

I’m a type 1 diabetic and have just found out I’m 2-3 weeks pregnant.. unplanned.
This means I’ve not been taking the folic acid (I am aware you are supposed to take a higher dose 3months prior to conception) and am worried about how this would affect the baby.
My HbA1C was 60 in the summer, I’m pretty well controlled.. I will of course seek medical advice ASAP but just wondered if anyone else had been in a similar situation?

Can't comment on being diabetic as I wasn't then.

However, didn't find out I was pregnant, unplanned, until I was 6 weeks gone. So def no folic acid before hand.

Oh, and we had only recently got married so we were finishing up wedding wine at about a bottle a night.

She's 17 now. A healthy, intelligent, gorgeous 17 year old!

I think what I'm saying is don't worry too much about that now. Just start looking after yourself and that tiny being!

Until you catch medics you can buy folic acid over the counter so get started.
