Hi magic
You are right that in many cases of diabetes, weight loss is a symptom. this is particularly so in type1. In type 2 however, a weight gain, some time before diagnosis isn't unknown.
I personally have thought for some time, that the finding of T2 and overweight going together and blaming the patient for an unhealthy lifestyle, could well be the wrong way round and that weight gain could be caused by T2 and not be a cause of it. However, you don't have a diagnosis of diabetes, so We must wait and see.
One of the best and easiest ways of losing weight is to cut back on the carbohydrates that you eat. Cutting calories and fats is usually less succesful.
