Update on pre conception clinic hmm .

Hey , so I last posted saying I was having trouble finding a number for my local pre conception clinic , and was waiting for my nurse to ring me Monday ,
So I've had my phone call , my nurse is away on holiday and got another nurse but was very lovley .
She adviced me that the nurse qualified to talk to me about pre conception clinic was the nurse I've been dealing with lol !! Head spinning , I was like pardon she said yes I don't understand why she has told you to ring the hospital ect when it's her you can see . You get reffered to the hospital once your pregnant , but it's your nurse who can advice you on pre conception , so I now have an appointment with my nurse next week who I saw in the beggining .
 
Blimey, talk about confusion.

It sure does , I was like this On the phone , couldn't believe it ,
Told this by my diabetic team , saw my gp for folic acid she's never heard of preconception and told me I could start . I was like woah 2 different answers by 2 professionals . But me and partner would like to attend the pre conception as want to do everything right we possibly can .
so we shall see what happens next week lol !!
 
You can bet your life if you turn up pregnant and unplanned they will tell you off - but if you try and access preconception care they don't know what to do with you!

Haha yes !!, this is so true I actually giggled at this comment . Every appointment since been at the adult clinic come to us first come to us first , I go and there confused and given no answers .
 
Bless you, bet your feeling very frustrated with the while process, I find one professional seems to have one idea about what's happening then another has another completely different idea of what happens.
If it helps at my preconception I got told to get my hbs1c as close to 6 as possible then I could start with the folic acid and then it was safe to start trying after 3 months I think it was. I saw a nurse then started at the antenatal diabetic clinic once I was pregnant xx
 
Yeah feeing very frustrated . I'm trying to do the right thing and plan in advance and at the moment I'm feeling rather lost lol !!
That's good to hear from you what you got told , I've had my bloods checked my diabetes team and the gp , and I have already been put onto folic acid . So I guess that's a good step in the right direction . I just hope I get some answers at my next appointment next Thursday and see what happens next .

Try not to get too frustrated with the lack of knowledge about what's going on. Your doing everything you can by the sounds and I followed it as I should have done this time so can't think if anything you could go better or how they could be mad at you. Hope you get your positive test soon xx
 
It's strange I feel frustrated with the doctors but not with myself as I still feel in control of my diabetes . So it just annoys me how they don't know themselfs lol . Hearing what you have replied with has given me more confidence in what I need to do next . If I don't get no answers I know I'm doing pretty well , and well fingers crossed .

Glass you're getting it sorted, thought the advice to call round was a bit weird! You are deffo doing everything right, so just keep being proactive and remember you can go to any hospital in the country you want if you feel you aren't getting the very best treatment x

I also thought it was strange , since I've been put onto folic acid seem to of been left hanging lol , so yes hopefully next Thursday can see what an earth is going on . If I get told to ring the hospital again I won't be very happy and will end up saying something .
Or taking your advice you have just left me .
 
I've finally got there .
Long story but I fount the number eeek !! And it's only my nurse who I had when I was diagnosed !!
Getting an appointment booked on Monday . I'm in such safe hands now not being thrown about . She was like oo my babies going to have a baby .
Very excited now on the right track . And she said that my hba1c is brilliant and said that I'm there . Can not wait for my appointment .
