Hello

My friend recently contracted a UTI and had to be rushed to hospital where the medics think the infection has spread to the kidneys. She is 20 years old, a little overweight and spent much of her teens binging on sugar and alcohol. I hope this is just a simple UTI but fear if her kidneys are involved, could this be diabetes-related? She hasn't (yet) been diagnosed with diabetes but am really fearful for her.

A kidney infection can happen to anyone regardless of their diet.

I think that sometimes we overreact to some illnesses in others because we know that kidney disease happens in diabetics.

Try not to worry and I hope the article gives you some insight to what is happening with your friend.

Take care,
