Has anyone suffered symptoms of a uti and dip test proves negative. I am convinced I have one as usual symptoms my blood sugars have risen so been using temp basal
on my pump at 130%. plus corrections. My normal control is very good latest hba1c 39 5.7%. Went back again third dip test negative. They have now sent sample off to be cultured. Thanks in advance. Paula

Not as professional advice or opinion:
My doctor goes by what the patient says.
He says he has seen plenty of dipstick negative urine tests come back positive for UTI.
The fact that you have needed to increase your pump's basal rate is pretty suggestive too.
Tell them you have a UTI until proven otherwise - that means a urine M/C/S please and pre-emptive antibiotic treatment because they have delayed your diagnosis and treatment and and you need to get things back to normal.
Or the doc has to spend more time trying to sort out more obscure (ones that are not obvious) causes for your raised insulin requirement and pretty conclusive of UTI symptoms !!
Best Wishes.
In Oz we can be forthright when needed, but politefully jovial when relaxed and all is well.

Hi, I haven't actually seen a DR. I was seen by the practice Nurses. I have emailed my Diabetic specialist also my Diabetic nurse specialist. Waiting to hear back from them. Thank you for your reply

Oh dear practice nurses really should know better if they took your history of symptoms and increased insulin requirement and at least checked with the GP.

Good news I spoke to a DR on the phone today, agreed to give me antibiotics ahead of the culture result due to my elevated BS. He said it was a double edged sword as my anxiety could also be a contribution to my raised sugar levels. Thanks so much for replying
