Has anyone out there had the shingles vacine any comments would be appreciated.
I am due to have this as well as my flu vacine and know nothing about the shingles one.
thank you.
carole.
I just had it a few days ago. I have had chicken pox at least twice in the past although I think it was three times. I always thought you couldn't get it twice but I did. Anyway I am a candidate for shingles so I went for it.
A ,happily, non even. No side effects and no trouble at all.

Not heard of this but I'm gonna look into it. My late father caught shingles and ill never forget seeing a man who'd fought in world war reduced to tears by the pain. He was a tough, strong bloke but this disease nearly broke him.
The shingles vaccine programme is new this year, but the vaccine has been available for some years, particularly in the US, however quantities were very limited.
This year the vaccine is only available for people aged 70 and 79, this is due to maximum benefit between 70 and 79. So people aged 79 are getting as part of the programme this year and 70 years olds are part of the catch up programme. The DH will then decide how to extend the vaccination schedule depending on supply availability.
I hope this is helpful, further information will be available on the DH website.
