Very first self BG test today

Thanks for that, i'll try a smaller one from now on and see if that makes a difference. If not i guess i'll be cutting them out altogether.

There are quite a few options you can try as alternatives, but I suggest you test each one to see the effect:
Sweet potato
Cauliflower cheese or Broccoli cheese (both low carb)
Celeriac
Swap your spud for a desert of berries and Greek yog or cream
Or Cheese as a desert

Could some one please help me under stand what's going on I went for my bg test last week my fasting reading was 3.5 but 2 hours later I was 13.5, I'm confused to what thins means as cant get to speak to a doctor till next Monday

What had you eaten?
Had you exercised, or been stressed between the two readings?

So you ate and drank nothing before arriving at the doctors, ate and drank nothing at the doctors, and sat in the waiting room for two hours?

Why were you there, and why were they doing two blood tests on you?

did they give you a sugar drink?
3.5 means you don't have insulin resistance, so that's a plus
if the 13 was their test, then 13 may mean you could be looking at diabetic. over 11 on a sugar drink test is indicative
but this is internet guessing, only your Dr will know what is going on

Aha! That makes much more sense.

Have a look on google for something called an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test.

It is designed as a diagnostic tool for diabetes.

As Jack says, if your blood glucose reading is over 11 at the 2 hour test, then the diagnosis is diabetes.

But DONT WORRY!
You are at the bottom of the diabetes scale (some people test MUCH higher)

At your stage of mild diabetes you will probably be given advice to control it with diet and exercise, with maybe one tablet.

I get the munchies when I'm on a high and get tingly lips and tongue and feel vague and shaky on a low .

Diet yoghurt is usually higher carb.

Home made is low carb. Ready meal cauliflower cheese and Broccoli cheese have flour in them so not low carb.
