Hi Everyone,

Well, my mum started on 0.6 of Victoza (im still a bit hesistant over her taking this) anyway the doctor has stopped a few of her tablets so now she is taking just the Victoza and metformin, however when she was on just the tablets her blood sugar levels after testing were pretty good (if a little low at times), now her numbers are way up especially in the morning when its around 13.1. Is this normal with such a low dose of victoza does it just mean she will need to go up to 1.2. Does this medicine just not work for some people?

Soyra,

I use Victoza and have been using for quite some time now... although I use it with Gliclazide MR 30mg x 4 daily... As i am actually allergic to Metformin and Metformin MR...

Victoza, is actually a hormone injected into the stomach area, how this is supposed to help, i'm not sure but a Diabetic specialised GP could possibly tell you..

One thing Victoza does is fill you full of wind, and by god you do release it as well.. it only works on weight loss on a few people, but since i have been taking it and i am taking 1.2mg a day, it has brought my sugar levels down from 15.7 to anywhere between 9 - 7.2 but if it is at the later point then my GP / Diabetiologists are happy, as i have other medical problems that can affect also the way it works..

Your mum will finally ease her sugar levels out, you have to give it time to work its not a miracle drug...

take care

regards
