I know this sounds a bit strange but I have decided that I would like to go onto insulin, the meds I am on just dont seem to be doing much, 10mg dapagflozin, I was on 80mg of gliclazide but my GP put that up to 120mg last monday & the diabetic nurse I spoke to today over the phone increased it again to 160mg per day, my so called urgent appointment to see them is early May & i honestly dont know how I am going to get through the next 6 weeks, I eat 20mg of carbs per day & otherwise healthy, when I asked about insulin on the phone today i was told its possible to go up to 320gms per day of gliclazide, I dont want more of these pills as they are doing nothing, I wake up every morning feeling like I have been in a car crash the day before, I just cannot function anymore like this, was diagnosed type 2 6 years ago but there was some question mark over that as I smelt like pear drops, I dare say they will want to retest doing the c peptide & gad test again but even if I am not LADA I cannot carry on like this, last A1c was 9.2/77, can any advise on what i can say to stop them upping my meads even more?

Yes I do, stupid thing as well i ate a couple of biscuits on saturday & BS didnt go any higher than what they are when eating almost no carbs, they have been hovering around the 16-25 mark over the last week or so as I have had a sinus infection which hasnt helped

I was lucky I was on metphormin 2000 a day and glicazide it wasnt keeping my levels under control they referred me to the diabetic nurses who started me on humilyn 3 and metformin and i havent looked back you have to be organised with food and I've had some lows but I. Much better on this regime

I was on metformin & was fine with it for a good 4 years or so but a few months back it started crippling my digestive system so had to stop

Yes it does do that I had constant stomach ache till they changed me too slow release which suited me much better but you can have humilyn 3 without metformin

I've always had the sr so it was strange why it started so long after, I know very little about insulin, the only thing I know is that there is a a slow release type that drips into your system & one that you use at mealtimes as fast acting but thats it

Have you had a cpeptide test to see what your insulin production is looking like? Type 2 diabetes is a condition of insulin resistance and hyperinsulimia. You may well already be producing more than enough insulin and adding more to the mix may not do you a lot of good, but simply lead to weight gain.

I've only ever had humilyn 3mixardwhic h you have morning and eve ning with your meals I understand it's has some slow acting and fast acting together

Really you don't hardly feel it just sometimes it might sting but nothing to worry about

is it true that they are almost painless?
When I was put on insulin after around 4 years on oral medication (metformin 2000, Saxaglipine 5, gliclazide 320 with no effect) my biggest worry was self-injecting. I was really surprised to discover that it was almost painless. Now I inject 4 times a day and as far as the injections go, I have no problems.
