Hi Feebs
Used to get UTIs all the time then they went for a while... until a month ago. Had a really nasty one - temperature, sick, shivers, sweats, the works - took 3 weeks and 2 weeks of antibiotics to clear it up and then another week for the thrush
so my sympathies to you...
I'm sure you've heard (and probably tried!) all the tips before, but just incase...
- Always wipe front to back, wear cotton knickers, avoid tight clothing, wash daily but avoid scented soaps etc
- Drink plenty fluids, generally, but especially when you feel a bout coming on - a spoon of bicarbinate of soda in a pint of water every hour neutrolises your wee and makes it burn less
- always go to the loo before AND after having sex
- you can get cranberry supplements to take instead of juice (only juice i can find locally is full of sugar or artificial sweetners), i got my tablets in a health food shop but imagine pharmacies and big supermarkets would have them too
- keep a diary of attacks, and keep a note of any potential causes - foods / activities / stress etc - so you can see any patterns developing. Note any other symptoms as well - might help your gp/urologist pinpoint any underlying problems sooner.
Hope you get to the bottom of it
