Can anyone help please since starting my new job where I am constantly running aroun my dn told me to only take 2-3mm of insulin stop any hypos since doing this I av started losing weight as sugars are always high She did say high sugars will cause weight loss any help is appreciated thankyou

Weight loss due to high sugars is not good. What are your sugar levels running at? It sounds like you need to increase your insulin a little bit and see if it brings them down.
 
What doses were you taking before? Do you carb count? Have you spoken to the DSN about how this is affecting you?
 
Yes have told dn about weight loss for example if I am say 8 or bit more at breakfast I would do 6 or 7 of insulin and that would be fine but on 2 or 3 before I go to work as she told me to they can hit 19 I told doctor this morning and she wasn’t best pleased said dn needs to get it sorted
 
Hope you get an appointment soon then or are you confident to change things yourself?

It does, but not so good. Perhaps your doctor should prescribe a CGM like the Freestyle, you sound like you'd benefit from using one, especially as they don't seem to be able to advise correctly.
 
Why on earth didn’t the doctor advise you? Sounds very odd delegating to the nurse when the doc thinks something is wrong.
 
I am going to go back to doing my normal amount of insulin never had a problem with that how easy is it to put the weight back on does anyone know please
 
The weight should come back on once your body is getting the right insulin as you can actually use the food you eat rather than peeing it out as glucose! You should see a weight increase in a couple of weeks.
 
Agree with Diakat in that if this drop in weight is recent and is due to you p'ing out the glucose (high blood sugars and lack of insulin to shunt the energy into the cells) then you should regain the weight because your body will be able to store more as fat and may increase your appetite to get you back to the previous level. Failing that eating some carby snacks chased with a little insulin will encourage the regain. I hope you feel better soon.
