Don't test every 5 minutes, it will just stress you out.
Thanks, I'll try not to.
I'm stressing about this whole diabetes thing waaaay too much lately. I don't know how much stress can rise your blood glucose level but I'm sure that at least some of the high numbers I'm getting are more related to stress than food.
I just read that you have to eat at least 150 grams of carbs for 3 days before the OGTT. They didn't tell me this at the lab. Is this true? What happens if I eat less than that, does anyone know?
Yes and possibly even longer (maybe over a week so that the pancreas first stage gets used to this amount of carbs. Otherwise it will not be able to handle the flood of blood sugar and your results will be worse than they really are. It is a good idea to train yourself up to this amount slowly and you also need to have high GI carbs as well
I wonder if that is why it is becoming less used in the UK
Be careful not to put too much weight onA week? Oh!
I've been trying to cut back on carbs lately. I wasn't exactly keeping a low carb diet but I definitely wasn't eating more than 150g carbs per day either. I guess I'm going to eat all the carbs in the world for the next few days to prepare myself for the test. It will be easy. I'm glad I have an excuse to eat more carbs for at least a few days.
Be careful not to put too much weight onJust think of the soft crusty white bread, the wine gums, toffees, orange juice straight from the fridge
Make sure you work up to it slowly though.
They were my comfort food too...mashed, roast, chips, crisps. For me it took about 10 days to get used to going without them. Just make sure you have enough protein and fat so that you are not hungry and I am sure you will be fine.Oh, I could actually use some extra weight! I only weight about 95 pounds now.
I decided, I'm having a nice big plate of chips tomorrow for lunch! Can't wait!
Potatoes used to be my comfort food. I don't know how will I be able to live without them if I'll have to go low carb after the test...
