What am I aiming for?

Hi all,

I have been pleased to see my post meal reads come down since following low carb. In fact i've only had 3 reads >8.5 since mid Jan (diag mid dec). My range is 5.8-8.4, mainly they are 6.5-7.5ish.

My before food reads have had similar success with ranges from 4.9-6.8, mainly they are 5.5-6.5ish

I thought I was achieving what I set out to achieve as advised by NICE <8.5 and between 4-7 before food.

I regularly see posts about testing b4 food and after food and if you don't get similar reads eliminate the food or reduce the amount.

I have some eg's where the read increases but is still within the guidlines

b4 after
5 6.8
6.5 7.6
5.9 7.2

So, what's my question (s)?

-Should your BS always be back to pre-meal read by 2 hours?
-Does it indicate diet alone not working effectively enough?
-Should I just be bloody happy with my <8.5?

thanks

The idea is to get back TOWARDS the pre meal level 2 hrs after. I seldom get right back. Many of us feel less than 8.5 is a tad high and less than 7.8 is a better point to aim for initially. After a while we perhaps aim to be less than 7. Just work gradually towards it.
