What are your thoughts on this please ?

Hi all, i have quite extreme diabetic symptoms which are as follows, constant thirst, frequent urination, hungry alot, constant yeast infections, im also on steroids for my adrenals/thyroid (known to raise BG)

Despite all these symptoms my Hba1C came back at 5.8 (within range) and i was told my morning fasting glucose was also in range. BUT whenever i check my BG on my home reader after eating a carby meal (chips+ veg) it can reach 9.2, and also just before bed it was slightly high at 7.4.

I have already been on a very low carb/0 sugar/yeast diet for the last 3 years, could this cause my hca1C to be falsely low ?

Now ive found a doctor who agreed to trial me out on metformin, the thirst and hunger have got a little bit bettter but most things remain the same. (as i have felt some benefit from metformin, does this mean that there is something diabetic going on with me ?)

Just wondering what you would do next ? Do i get up to the full dose of metformin and in a months time see how things are ? Do i need more testing, morning insulin ? Glucose Tolerance test ?

A lot of these sound very similar to the symptoms that prompted me to go to the doctor and ask for a diabetes test. My blood clucose that day was over 27 mmol/l though, so it was quite clear what was causing the symptoms. I was then diagnosed with type 2 and started taking glimepiride and then changed to metformin. Within very little time, I was feeling much better and a lot of the symptoms were gone.

Don't know if that helps at all, but I'm not qualified to advise, so just thought I'd give my personal experience.

After how little time before your symptoms started to disapear ?

But also this is what im wondering, if i have crazy diabetic symptoms but my blood tests are "normal" then whats going on :cry:
 

Has the doctor given you any idea what else could be going on?

For me it was a matter of days before I started feeling improvements. A matter of weeks and I was feeling better than before the diagnosis.

Thyroid/Adrenals/Diabetes by the looks of it.

Thanks and I'm sure it will for you too. As soon as they find out exactly what's happening, they can start making you feel better
