what can i drink?

does anyone know what alcholic drink if any i can drink this christmas ps i dont like vodka!
 
voldka is ok as long as you make sure that they mixer that you are using is diet/sugar free
 
decide what you might like and then do a search on it, so you know in advance.
 
I drink Bacardi which is perfectly ok as long as you mix with a sugar free mixer like diet coke or diet pepsi etc.

Another tip for tipplers. If you are drinking in a pub, ask for a bottle of your preferred mixer because if you drink draught diet coke etc they come from the same pipe as the full sugar stuff and if the person before you ordered the full of sugar coke, some of this will be still in the pipe when they switch to the diet version and it goes into your drink.

Have been sticking to vodka even though there's a sugar laden bottle of Baileys in my cupboard!

Thanks for the hint about mixers from draught pipes ... that's very useful to know.

so I have more choice than vodka with soda water? YAYness ... never liked red wine ... only champagne haha!

That's only going to be a minuscule amount. However, you can't always guarantee they press the Diet button. I've had full-fat before. Can taste it straight away - rips the enamel off my teeth! Asking for a bottle mixer ensures you get what you ask for.
 
Hi Jem, I don't like red wine either. After the first glass I get a pounding headache and want to go to bed. I love bacardi with diet pepsi and lots of crushed ice (Mmmmmmm). I used to love Baileys too but even the thought of it is enough to raise my bs lol.

Try Aldi's cloudy lemonade with your Vodka, I won't use anything else now when having a little :roll: dink ay home.

hmmmm - sounds good Graham ... I've tried adding a splash of lime juice to the soda and that works quite nicely, to think of the sumptuous cocktail creations I used to make with Rose's lime cordial (shuddering at thought of THAT much sugar) as the basis ... vodka and lime just work so well!

I'm going to be rocking this yummy recipe I've half pinched/half adapted from the Berstein forum:

Egg nog/Brandy/Christmas type drink
-Big cup of almond milk
(You need one cup of ground almonds to two cups of water. Boil water and remove from the heat.
Pour the ground almond into the water.
Steep for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
Cook's tip: Do not rush this stage because the ground almond needs time to release its fat content into the hot water.
Sieve the mixture to remove coarse grains or, for ease, blend mixture in electric blender until coarse grains disappear.
Leave to cool or use hot as required. )
- Sugar Free Da vinci Vanilla syrup
-Cinnamon
-Nutmeg
-Brandy
Splash syrup into glass, add big splah brandy, top up with almond milk, add big teaspoon of cinnomon and grate nutmeg over the top.

I'm drooling thinking about it!

(I've looked EVERYWHERE for pre-packaged unsweetened almond milk in the uk but to no avail. You can get it in the States called Almond Breeze which is very nice. If anyone comes accross it let me know)

I used to love Malibu and milk....Mai Tais, vodka tia maria and coke (in same glass) Martini Rosso on the rocks, advocaat....mmmmmmmmmm I wish I was still a drinker life was much more rosy.........hic
