I am hopefully having a gastroscopy and colonoscopy on tuesday i was told not to take my diabetic tablets and only have white food the day before and nothing on the day, no one can help or can get any answers can i have milk or margarine or anything else i am type 2 only on metformin and sitagliptin

White food is flour, rice, bread, potatoes etc which is the worst food for a diabetic . Bizarre they suggested that for a diabeic?
I know that's all they said not sure they are bothered

Things like boiled chicken count as white foods.
I also drank vegetable stock cubes dissolved in hot water with a knob of butter added. Plenty of essentials in there.
When I had my colonoscopy there was a leaflet which listed the foods.
Each Trust is different, but the list of foods in the link up thread looks to have enough things in it to keep a diabetic eating low carbohydrate going for a couple of days.
Boiled eggs, well cooked meats etc.

Probably best not to over think it.
I treated it as a minor fast, as there is only one day when you don't eat solids and even then you can drink clear broth.

The idea behind white food before a colonoscopy is that it's lower in fibre.

My hubby ate cooked chicken, clear broth, sugar free jelly

Thanks all tests all done and on way to eating what i think is ok
