What do parents think of this idea?

I watched the video and tried to set up a profile account. Setting up the patient info was tricky, it wouldn't let me put in an uneven split dose for Levemir. I couldn't get the time format to work, it kept saying the way I'd input the time was incorrect. It doesn't allow to set the account profile to anything other than US time zones.

I can see that this tool would be useful for parents who have newly diagnosed children or parents who don't make active decisions about insulin adjustments themselves and rely rather on the doctor or nurse telling them what to do. When I notice a pattern in Jess' readings that needs an insulin adjustment made then I make that adjustment myself without relying on the doctor or nurse to make the decision for me. If I felt unable to make the decision myself then I might find this tool useful.

I can see it's usefulness in the school setting where the nurse or first aider could enter a message for advice. But if the school aren't contacting the parents for advice by phone are they any more likely to contact the parents or diabetes care team by computer?

I can't see us using this tool as a family. But I have learnt a lot about Jess' care and how to make adjustments to her insulin myself. We are lucky to have a school who are very pro-active about phoning me if they have any questions or concerns. And we have a good diabetes care team who are very easy to contact if I need further advice. If we didn't have all these factors in place then perhaps it would be useful.

Hi SophiaW,
It is a shame that there is not a UK version. I came across this when I was browsing and wondered if it would be useful.
I do admire the way you handle your child's diabetes and think all parents on this site are doing a wonderful job.

Catherine.
