Due to having normal BG levels I can't get a BG meter or strips on prescription but I still want to monitor my BG to make sure I keep stress off my Pancreas. For this reason I need to buy my own meter and strips. I was using one off Amazon but it turned out to be inaccurate to 1 mmol.
Also would like to measure my Ketones if thats possible since im on a low carb healthy Ketogenic diet.
Anyone know a accurate meter that won't break the bank?
For regular testing the Codefree from Home Health has the best value strips, which is the major cost for BG monitoring. They have discount codes when buying in bulk:
5 packs 264086
10 packs 975833
You enter them during the check out process. You’ll need to order direct from their website rather than via Amazon to get the discount. And as you’re not diagnosed with diabetes you’ll have to pay VAT.
The Codefree won’t measure ketones. Generally the regular testing strips for those meters that do test ketones are much more expensive, as are the ketone strips. I have a separate meter that I use just for ketones - Caresens Dual, which I got from Spirit Healthcare. However both the meter and the testing strips seem to be in short supply.
Thanks to a tip off from @bulkbiker I have just ordered the following as a replacement:

The Tee2 and it's test strips from Spirit Healthcare are only slightly more expensive than the Codefree. But the meter has the bonus that it connects to your phone to make monitoring the results easier to monitor. The downside is that strips are only available on the Net. http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-plus-blood-glucose-meter/
Aviva Accucheck meters are readily available from everywhere, but feeding them can get expensive.
