I appreciate you have different heart concerns than many of us but triglycerides often drop on low carb high fat. The carbs cause inflammation and higher trigs. Not all cardiac specialists take the same low fat view. See dr aseem malhotraRead your message twice, thank you very much. At the heart clinics they tell me to cut out fats, my triglycerides are high ATM and I can't eat fats. Hard isn't it, I'm with you on the cheese though, is there any special brand or type you eat?
Maybe, maybe not.You still have a LOT of nutritional learning to accomplish yet.And a lot to unlearn as well.Keep your mind open and LEARN,then make decisions.Learn, not what you are told, but actually research it yourself and learn.Dr's are a notoriously bad source for dietary advice is something a lot of us have figured out.Read your message twice, thank you very much. Oh I agree there, my diabetic GP is so bad I'm looking to change primary care practice. My uncle was diabetic who died from complications but we used to trade info on foods once I joined the club. What spiked me didn't spike him and v. versa. I am listening to all advice but in the end I have to make my own decisions I suppose. My biggest risk, according to my cardiologist is having diabetes with heart failure. I'm siding with their advice on fat as atherosclerosis caused the big bang for me. My triglycerides have doubled and its so hard to choose food low carb and low saturated fat. It's why I asked you what cheese you buy. But thank you for your advice, much appreciated. Q.
Again, I appreciate your position as I had been worried about high fats owing to other conditions of mine. I have upped my fat intake considerably since February and no ill effects (I was getting a bit bunged up but that stopped and occasional issues as I have no gall bladder) but my blood pressure is coming down slowly but surely.Oh I agree there, my diabetic GP is so bad I'm looking to change primary care practice. Well......I had my gall bladder removed in 2005. I cut out almost all fats as recommended. Until February this year, where I started LCHF (in my case lower carb higher fat) and as if by magic I dropped out of the prediabetic range, shed 10 kilos in weight and reversed my high blood pressure to an appreciable degree. All without a gall bladder. I eat cream cheese, full fat yoghurt, full fat milk, streaky bacon, without issue. That's interesting, I have 6 stones following a scan I'm hoping they can remove the stones without an ectomy. The consultant I saw, said I would have to go on low fat diet for life if my gall bladder has to come out.
Yup.Carbs are killers as we here have seen. Will be nice when the medical community gets on board, but theyve had the last 50 years telling us they were great,as obesity and diabetes skyrocketed.Give em 50 more years and they will finally admit the low fat advice, high carb advice was very bad advice.Glad I do my own research and know more about nutrition than any Dr Ive ever personally met,and Ive met a lot.Saturated fat does not raise triglycerides, carbs do. That is researched evidence.
Go to you tube and watch Ivor Cummings or ask any of the low carbers here how their trigs plummeted once they stopped eating carbs.
Cheers mate. It’s a complete relief. I was lost back in February, not knowing what to do. I was searching for a dietary solution and only really found it through this forum. My local surgery at that time was giving me mixed messages at best. It’s been a struggle but it most definitely has worked.Wow, that's some story, well done.
Right with you there. Going the low carb way of dealing with prediebtics. We had a visitor last weekend who kindly brought me two vanilla slices and two jam Donuts! As I’d been so good the previous two weeks I treated myself to one and a half! I couldn’t believe the effect, all evening I was prowling the kitchen. The craving shocked me. I just popped berries and baby tomatoes all evening. Back on track now, but it is difficult. The smell of boiled eggs started to get to me, it’s a total re education for me.
