Hi Jodie,
You were right to be cautious about your insulin last night. Alcohol can lower your blood sugar dramatically and usually after an initial high. However, I would have advised you to take you lantus last night but not to correct your high with short acting insulin.
Nevermind. Take your lantus now. Otherwise you will be high all day. You could then take it again tomorrow. If you want to carry on taking it at night before bed, just take half of it now. Keep an eye on your BS today as it will probably run high-but hopefully not as high as not taking it at all!
Correct your high with your short acting insulin but remember to eat something in half an hour or so. Sometimes when I've drank the day before, I can wake up with a high reading but then it drops half way through the morning.
Keep testing every couple of hours or so. Your hangover might be worse for it!
Happy birthday for yesterday and remember not to be too hard on yourself for the ****** readings. After all, it was your birthday and you're allowed to enjoy yourself (next time just take your lantus before you go to bed-NOT your short acting)
