My doctor has recently issued me with a glucose monitor. My prescription is now 1g metformin, 240mg gliclazide, and 5mg saxagliptin per day. I eat fish four times a week with lots of vegetables but few potatoes, never eat a prepared meal bought from a supermarket, have just a boiled egg with a small piece of toast (made from low sugar bread) for breakfast, and have home-made houmous on toast or a low sugar soup for lunch. I have given up dairy foods, sweet biscuits, and confectionary and my only dessert is fresh fruit. But although my blood sugar is usually below 7 before breakfast it is well into the teens before meals during the day, and sometimes as much as 18-20 mmole/l.
I would welcome comments about this because I am unsure what else I should do; my doctor never asks about my diet.
