What should my next move be

I as supposed of star insulin last week but my doctor waned me to hold out. So just a brief history. I have celiac (if that's important) and I started glucophage 2 months ago and it stopped working so I upped my dose to 1,000 mg. So tonight I ate granola (only had 10 grams of carbs and 30 minutes after my sugar was at 9(my doctor said to test
at 30 minutes. I think because I had gastric bypass my sugar spikes sooner but there is nothing wrong with the gastric bypass). I took another glucophage an so went down to 5.2 by hour 1.

So what should I do next? I can increase glucophage to 1,500 but it probably won't help for long. I'm worried about insulin because my sugar normally goes down by hour two. So what should I do? I was going to test over the weekend and if it's high go back to the doctor. I know to test two hours after but my sugar is just high post meal now. I know 162 isn't night but I hardly ate.

Glucophage is the slow release version of Metformin. It slowly releases the Metformin over 8 hours whereas the normal Metformin starts working after 30 minutes.
The 9 you experienced after 30 minutes is something a lot of us would, but if it was 5.2 after 1 hour then I fail to understand what you are worrying about.

Perhaps I have read your post wrong???

The only reason it was 5.2 was because I took an extra glucophage. When I went on glucophage 2 months ago 500 mg worked and my sugar never went above 5 and it stopped working. Then I went on 1,000 mg and my sugar never went above 5 and it stopped. Yesterday I took 1,500 mg and it lowered it but based on my trend it seems like it won't help for long. Plus I can't take unlimited amounts of glucophage. Does that clear it up a bit?

Also I think I lost my first phase insulin so my sugar is good by hour two but I'm assuming my long term insulin still works. My fasting sugar was around 5 when I went on glucophage. Up rising every day.

I also started losing weight again. I was 95.5 kg and now I am 79 kilograms. I stopped losing when I first went on glucophage and started losing soon after. I stopped losing for a while on 1,000 mg and now I'm losing again. Maybe I should call and see if I can raise it to 1,500 until I see the doctor?

Glucophage/Metformin isn't an instant fix bringing tour blood glucose down quickly to normal levels (well it can bring it down a little fairly quickly).

It works better taken consistently over a long period. I am sure someone will be along who can explain it better than me but from the figures your quoting I wouldn't be over worried.

I know it's not a quick fix it takes about 2-3 months to reach full effect. I'm not so worried about the numbers as I am that my progress is reversing. On 500 mg I stopped losing weight and my sugar never went above 6. On 1,000mg my sugar never went above 6 and now it's at 9 and I went from 82.5 kg when I started 1,000mg now I'm 79 kg.

So if I was making progress I wouldn't think twice about those numbers it's just that I'm going downhill. I can understand if it seems like I am overreacting it's just don't know at what point I need to reconsider treatment options. Should I wait for it to get worse or take action now?
