Type 2 What Test To Ask For ?

I am seeing my GP tomorrow to discuss health in general.

My diabetes check is in September but I am going to ask GP for various blood test.

What will give me a complete picture of what is happening?

Insulin
Lipid
Sugar
Liver
Kidney
anything else?

I am in UK in case you know the exact test to ask for.

I doubt you will get a fasting insulin test, but every thing else you mention is covered by the full panel test. If uncertain as to your diagnosis you could ask for C-Pep and GAD tests my GP was reluctant to do those two tests though and in fact refused to do so.
 
Thanks will ask and see if my doctor agrees. He did my insulin antibodies test when I asked so may be he will let me have it.

Anyone know what test for checking how much fat around liver ?
 
I think the lipid panel covers liver enzymes, which could identify fatty liver.
Abdominal fat, probably just use a measuring tape and waist to height or waist to hip ratio.

Other tests, hba1c. Basic metabolic panel. Urinalysis. Thyroid.

Insulin or c-peptide should have a fasting blood glucose done at the same time to give context.

My GP didn't entertain me and said we will do all these test next year as I had my follow up in march with nurse.

He also said that my insulin antibodies test has not come back yet and it takes 3 - 4 weeks, Is it normal for such test to take that long?
