Whatever possessed me to get back on the wagon this week, with Christmas being here?
Absolutely bloody miserable that I cannot have anything I like. No traditional Xmas eve Indian or tex mex nibbles, no potatoes, no stuffing and no mum’s choc pudding.
Substitutes never come close (cauli rice, I’m Looking at you)
I know I’ll thank myself eventually and feel better for not giving in but tonight I’m going to wallow in self pity.
Merry Christmas everyone, here’s to hoping the self restraint holds!
Why can't you have an Indian meal? Give the poppadoms, naans, bombay potato and mango chutney a miss. You can eat a low carb Indian meal if you choose wisely.
As for your mum's chocolate pudding, send it over.

I am going to relax a little but keep testing so that I can cut back immediately if I start to go too high. I've had one and half small glasses of wine..... but now going for a walk and then testing.

Thanks, and you.Have a fab day tomorrow.
We are a long time diabetic so don't be too hard on yourself. Drink plenty of water too.Rather you than me, sorry. This is my first Christmas since diagnosis and though I am going to watch what I eat (I am feeling not a little smug that up to now I have had nothing remotely Christmassy) I do intend to start after midnight tonight and won't stop until midnight on Boxing Day. Hang it! I like to indulge on special occasions.
You can do it, though it will be hard, think of how you will feel after the festivities are over when some of us (I am looking at myself here) get our next A1c and learn that perhaps that whole plate of goodies wasn't such a great idea after all.
Merry Christmas to you!
I am due an A1c in February so I have time to recoup some of my lossesWe are a long time diabetic so don't be too hard on yourself. Drink plenty of water too.
I've had a few diabetic xmas's now and luckily have a chance to detox after xmas and tried hard all the rest of the year. Its just a few days out of 365 of them.
We all do what's fitting for the time of year. Guilt because of a higher hba1c doesn't stop the fact it's Christmas!
Enjoy yourself and keeo hydrated.
Merry Christmas.
January is a long month to pull in the reigns.
What a night!
Up most of the night Santa watch invasion so I had to be very very crafty.
At 2.30am I took my chance and it paid off.
Shattered today as no bed til 4am then small one arose to Santa gifts and we've shared the morning.
But all worth it!
I've had fresh cooked chicken slices with spready cheese and finely chopped red pepper. Yummy!
Roll on late lunch with a few toasties.
I can reheat roasties and they don't spike me. Have you tried that?Merry Christmas!! Glad Santa was able to deliver unseen.
I didn’t sleep well, third night in a row, woke at 5.4 even though I was really good yesterday and avoided everything but 2 small Thornton chocs. Deliver dump had me up to 6.6 before breakfast. Had strawberries and cream for breakfast and ended up at 8.3!!!!
Trying to stop the ‘well it’s high anyway you may as well eat all the food’ thoughts and listen to the ‘it’s high already so be good and not ruin it completely’ thoughts!
I will enjoy that roast potato today, I have put in a request for the crispiest one going, might as well really enjoy it.
It will be a night where I take a gliclazide that’s for sure. ( I only have to take them when I know I’ve eaten too many carbs, otherwise I hypo)
Have a wonderful day.
