I went to the Drs with a very swollen foot and lower leg ... I was told to go away and get a hobby !!!!!!! (I hate my doctors now, and I don't trust them on inch, this inc the diabetes team)
Whilst waiting to see my diabetic nurse a few years ago...she was running a little behind and offered me a cup of tea while I was waiting...I accepted gratefully...but was quite shocked to hear her call from the kitchen...'do you take sugar???'
Hahaha ... Do you know the wife .. She has done thisWould this hobby you should take up involve long sharp pointy things, and a doctor doll, by any chance ?

Similar to my diabetes GP when I questioned her about my T2 diagnosis being incorrect (I have always been slim and had high bs at the time) she said well, you're not a T1 therefore you must be T2
I had the "your chest is clear" line despite coughing a very fruity cough in front of the doctor, he gave me a token course of antibiotics. Went back a week later when the cough was still as bad as ever and saw a Nurse Practitioner who immediately said Eurgh! and proceeded to tell me that the course of antibiotics I took wasn't very much and prescribed me a course of steroids and another 2 weeks at double the strength! That thankfully did the trick (with a lovely dose of thrush thrown in!)"You can't have antibiotics, your chest is clear"
I then coughed up a large amount of very infected sputum and presented it to him.
"Oh, your chest must have been so full there was no room for it to rattle about in there"
Just what we need, you are going to become a valued member of our forum. we'll help you with lifestyle.[it's the carbs, AKA starches and sugars] and you can help us with diabetic stress2 here :
As a former Community Nurse myself, I have often needed to advise a change of lifestyle ; I have always considered it my responsibility to explain WHY and give guidance as to HOW. When I said this to her, she told me that as a nurse myself I shouldn't need to ask. My nursing qualification, incidentally is in Psychiatry
My first appointment for confirmation of diabetes from a locum doctor at our docs practise
Me - what will it take for me to control this?
Him - a minor miracle!!
Gee thanks for that doc
Bet that made you feel better!!!!
