Hi, don't know what's wrong with me today, feel "woolly headed' tired, have no sense of smell and a funny taste in my mouth, my BG was little high this morning but has settled down now, feels a bit like I have a cold but not sneezing, I'm not "bunged up" don't have a cough or sore throat, just weird really! Any suggestions?
Not sure what you mean by a ''little high'' Neicy, definitely worth keeping an eye on your bg over the next few days and test for ketones if bg remains high, an increase in insulin to correct your bg will also be necessary, if in doubt and you continue to feel unwell then see your gp.
Hi Neicy.
Where I am living with the season changes taking place have beeen very gritty eyed and
sore throat, runny nose etc...
My BG have ran bit high last 3 weeks had to wack more insulin in and got my HbA1c test
tomorrow morn.
Bit nervous as what result will be - as have been running higher than normal through the summer
with the closer muggy weather.
However when the weather gone cooler my BG settles down again!
If you feel worse play safe and pop along to your GP.
Sometimes we can be brewing an infection and it reflects in the raised BG levels.
Keep eye on your meter and take care of yourself too.
Hope this helps.
Anna.
Thanks guys, my Bg seems about normal in fact had a hypo this afternoon, so that's ok, still feel weird though, and totally knackered, back at work tomorrow so hope it's just a day off bug!!! I don't have any ketone testing kit so have to go on BG, but all seems ok, so fingers crossed . Really appreciate your replies, thank you

As a type 1 you really should have some Ketostix to hand for times when you are unwell, ask your gp surgery to include them on your repeat prescription.
Awww, thanks. My GP hasn't prescribed ketone test sticks for me for about 14years!!!!! Despite my diabetes nurse (at the hospital) requesting them on my behalf. It seems they would be surplus to my requirements!!!!!! After all I have BG test kit!!!!! He does keep prescribing Metformin (in addition to insulin) though, even though I don't take it after advice from the diabetes team at the hospital!!!!! Hey ho......could sell it on eBay I suppose!!!!

Your bg kit won't test you for ketones as you well know. The cost of the Ketostix is small and you can buy them yourself over the counter for around £5 so goodness knows how much the NHS purchase them for, request some on your next prescription and don't take no for an answer!!!
