Hi I've been type one for 20 years..I have a hypo of 3.1..last night.I could feel it coming so went to get my Jelly Babies...when I stood up I went very dizzy and I had a very vivid circle of white light in my vision..It was all I could see from my right eye...even when I closed it...which I had to do because it was so bright and actually hurt...It disappeared as my sugars started to rise. This have never happened before and I don't have many hypos....Anyone had this before ?..

Not personally but my OH has had a hypo once before where he told me everything was going white and he couldn't see. Scary stuff I hope you're not too shook up

It was a bit scary at the time...I was very relieved when it went...all is back to normal today...usual aches and tiredness after a hypo..

Low bg levels can effect the vision. not experienced a white circle but do get blurry vision if my bg levels drop too low.

Your brain needs glucose to function, if it's not got enough glucose it can get confused and start to struggle to do top level brain stuff - like correctly interpreting the messages your eyes are sending it.

That sounds a bit scary, but it is just a good motivation to treat your hypos nice and quick before it gets to that point - if you can, maybe stash a little tub of jelly babies in every room?

I have sometimes had vision disturbance as part of a hypo; floating lights a bit like migraine symptoms. But as soon as I get some sugar in me it resolves. I'm glad it resolved quickly for you too.
