Who are they?

Famous British actor.
 
Yes he is dead and no he's not Irish......
 
Appeared in more than 60 films from 1932-1970 but appeared in a very famous TV serial in the UK from 1963- 1966.

I just looked up Wiki about William Hartnell and lunarlinda seems to be correct. There are many photos of him there but he doesn't seem to smile much in them.
 
I just went back to my childhood and what I watched on t v. Z Cars, Softly Softly came to mind, but when I looked at his pic again this morning, I imagined him as an older bloke because his face was vaguely familiar. Then I remembered another programme I watched, and was very scared whilst watching it, and bingo, Dr Who. He hasn't changed his hairstyle over the years either, that was another clincher. xx

I was about 8 when the Daleks came on Doctor who and they scared me rigid. I used to watch from behind my Dads armchair........
 
Haha, yes and I used to have to lift my legs off the floor and sit on them, as if they couldn't get me that way. ?? next pic on it's way xx

Yes still alive. I like her as an actress, she's done TV serials too. To me, she still looks like this today, with one exception. xx
