Who are they?

My silence on the 'what is it?' was not a silent protest. A combination of being under the weather and the updated phone app have kept me out. I must admit though that I am more a fan of 'who are they?' but the odd 'what are they?' thrown into the mix sounds good.

Sorry, I meant to post sooner but, and this sounds daft,
I don't know how on earth it happened....I fell backwards
down our indoor stairs and my spine at about waste level
took the full force of the fall. Heck it's sore, I'm walking
about like a decrepit 90 year old.
Me better half came rushing out of the living room to see
what happened. I didn't want her to worry so I told her
(in a pathetic martyr's voice) what I usually tell her if I ever
get a cold....
"Don't worry sweetheart I'm not as bad as I look". :lol:

btw mentioning colds.....Strange, isn't it, men get inflicted
with incredibly severe colds compared to the ladies.

I thought the clue was quite easy,mind you I did wonder what the land in the background was.
