Who has a necklace or bracelet id?

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I wear a bracelet with a red "star" and Aaron's rod on it and simple info. Has my name and "diabetic type 2" and on the reverse is my husband's mobile phone number. I don't get hypos, but I don't altogether trust the buses round here or Paramedics with Glucose drips. I've never needed help of this kind, but I'm prepared.
Only time it was useful, was when a child in a school in which I did a day's supply spotted it and told her diabetic friend, who then came and questioned me.
 
I wear a sos talisman steel bracelet,the top winds off and paper inside keeps all your details,its good 4 me as ive lots of allergies aswell as health probs
 
Make sure it's easy to spot!
T1 husband had a hypo in the street once and was picked up by an ambulance. Paramedics missed the SOS talisman round his neck. Nurses in the ward where he was admitted put it onto the locker and didn't look at it either. thought it was just jewellery. He has a bracelet now. More likely to be spotted
It matches mine and someone we met on holiday saw them and said "how sweet to have matching bracelets".
 
Mrs. Tubs bought me a medic alert watch with my name, date of birth, and "diabetic type 2" engraved on the back of the watch. Clear instructions on the strap to look at the back of the watch.

Also my mobile phone has an ICE (In Case of Emergency) contact which lists all the phone numbers emergency services can contact in the case of...well...an emergency.

Andrew has an SOS tailisman necklace, the one that screws off with paper inside. In red iv'e wrote also coeliac please do not treat hypo with a mars bar!! Now that some of you have said that paramedics tend to ignore them, perhaps for his 18th he can have a T1 diabetic tattoo on his arm instead :twisted:
 
I love jewellery and this wwas a good excuse to buy something new

On a choker round my neck I have silver guitar plectrum which has an easily spotted caduceus symbol on the front with my name, my husbands name and ICE phone number and that I am diabetic

I've had a lot of comments on it so I would assume it's pretty easy to see ... however, I also have a simple and very cheap steel dog tag on my car keys with similar details, along with my name, DOB and medical conditions etc
 
I wondered if it was worth me getting one or not as I'm only a type 2 but now I inject Byetta the thought has crossed my mind to get something. An aunt suggested a talisman bracelet but the area where the information is stored looked very chunky and I wondered if this would irritate me as I don't wear much Jewellry and I thought a bracelet with just an engraved disc would be okay?
 
It was something I have been meaning to ask. I was diagnosed end of September. I am on diet only, no medication. Should I carry something around with me to say I am diabetic?
 
Now that i have realised i am a mear Mortal :shock: i have started to wear an sos talisman around my neck just in case.

Cmes in handy for my scuba diving should something go wrong :roll:

my hubby got me a lovely bracelet that has the medical symbol on the front and all my details on the back with a small med alert in red on the catch people dont know its anything other than a piece of jewelery and i like that.. it makes me feel better to wear it..
 
I got myself dogtags from ebay and they engraved my details onto them but they have a brilliant range of different types and styles and all sorts of prices.
 
I wear an engraved bracelet, because I don't want to be put on a glucose drip if I were to be injured. I also look both ways before crossing the road. The big purple buses around here are nearly as big as the "Knight Bus" in the Harry Potter movies. and travel just as fast.
 
Has anyone ever seen any decent-looking plastic or cloth ID tags? It's just that metal (even gold and silver) makes my skin break out and so I have to avoid anything like that (I can't even wear a watch unless I cover the back of the watch with a plaster :cry: ).

I saw some rubber ones that look like swimming bands on ebay but you can't really put any information on them over and above the big label that says DIABETIC. They didn't seem very subtle and I don't really want to advertise to everyone that I've got diabetes.

I've got an sos talisman bracelet with all my ailments and medicines, dr and next of kin. Wasn't too expensive either as I bought it off the internet from their website
 
Someone posted elsewhere that he had decided to get a wrist band as his current SOS necklace "might get lost if my head came off in a motobike crash"

I *think* he was actually being serious
