Why won't my Freestyle Libre 2s stick properly?

Anyone got any ideas on how to keep them on? They haven't been in water or bashed off and have just began to peel themselves. Not sure what to do as if I have to keep buying them, they're not really doing their job.

Hello, it is most likely the hot weather. I have been using L2 for about 18 months & during colder weather they rarely come off. Over the last 3 weeks I have lost 4, mostly after exercising. Don't worry too much about it. Abbott will always replace. It is a bit of a pain but the sensors are worth it. We are still in the early days of this technology.

If you don't think it is the hot weather some other things to consider are: sensor placement...is it squarely on one muscle & not overlapping 2 (the tricep & deltoid)? Have you been catching it whilst changing clothes? So easy to do as there is no sensory feedback from where the sensor is. Could you have been washing the area a little too vigorously?

Alternatively, you can use a secondary dressing to secure it in place. I have never used them but have seen them mentioned in forums & Google searches. I'm about to look for some myself now

I used to wear the original Libre sensors for about a year and initially had no issue at all with their "stickability", my main issue was gettig them off again. But I ended up with a batch of non stick sensors. and Abbott replaced these duff ones, and the non stick replacements and replacements of repladements. This went on for around 10 sensors, at which point I ended up with some more pressing problems, and stopped chasing up duff sensors, and haven't unfortunately used them since. Abbott were very good about replacing them free of charge, they just required that I returned the faulty ones, so while I was extremely frustrated I was only ever out of pocket for the last couple of the fall off variety. All II had to do was phone them, explain the problem, and receive a replacement with a pre-paid envelope yo return the duff one.

So while I haven't really got any advice other than that offered about keeping the sensors on , I would say carry on wearing them on as long as Abbott are willing to offer their free replacement scheme. The knowlwdge I gained from my time wearing them has been, in retrpospect, actually well worth all my final non stick hassle.

I use tegaderm, easy to apply, put it on straight after the sensor & it lasts the whole 14 days, have been finding the sensor is a pain to pull out again though, good luck finding something that works for you
