Why would a type2 need soooo much basal but on 20unjts of novarapid only per meal?

I tend to agree with @Daibell about asking for a c-peptide test.

If your natural insulin is alive and well it shouldn't need supplementing to the degree it is being.
I'm not due to see specialist now til way after surgery. I'll be seeing dn thou in a few weeks.
I will get BG rises after op with food/mush if not enough insulin of my own. That will be the clincher. Too much basal will disguise it for a little while but not permanently. I would have thought?
But think time to ask for one.

you dont need to be ultra low start say at 150 and see what your body can cope with. ever increasing insulin dose sis not something you want to be doing. have you considered surgery but that does have risks.
@paulus1 I do low carb otherwise my novarapid would be tripled from porridge or cereals I was living off last month due to economical restrains. Luckily my normal diet is low carb (100-150g carbs).

NoNmattermwhat I do I cannot reducer the huge amounts of basal without compromising bolus excess or high bgs.
Im not even getting close hypos now for leverage for reductionr

Simon you missed the 300 bit regarding the basal dose, the OP is on 68u of 300 strength basal, so ~3 times as much as the average bolus (which although ickihun hasn't stated should be assumed to be 100 strength).

Have just heard back from Sanofi that the numbers on the Toujeo dial are the actual numbers of units given. Makes life easier.

I like it. It beats a pen and a half of another basal. So easy to push too, unlike novarapid pens. I get great 5s and 6s if unwell or havent eaten instead of double figures. i love it but want to reduce the treble strength 78units per day. I'm praying my op at least halves the amount.
Endo just said I'll be on it with metformin. Im assuming it will reduce with weight loss like for type1s.
God help me if it doesn't!
