I just saw Wilko Johnson on the news about having had his pancreas removed to cure his pancreatic cancer. Silly question, but does anyone know if he has had it replaced, i.e how on earth is he going to produce insulin? I'm confused.....

I think the op creates an instant total dependency on insulin injections, plus a number of other lifelong complications.

We have had a couple of people who have posted with this condition, so hopefully one of them will be along and can explain.

Thank you @Brunneria . Having re-read my post, I hope it does not come across as ignorant, naive, possibly, but I did not intend for it to imply I was ignorant. I concluded that he has either had a transplant or has to inject, but they did not mention it at all and I was intrigued.

I just looked it up and it said it would be the same as Type 1, but I couldn't upload the file !!

People with no pancreases also have to take pancreatic enzyme replacements.
They do though try to keep part of the pancreas and these people may not need insulin or enzymes
