please take a look. Dr . Jason fung saying how to reverse bg
To be fair he doesn't say "cure" much, but "reversal", although "curable" is in the blurb below the video. I just don't know how he can make much money off this. A low carb high fat diet is not exactly a cash cow, since that's what I do and it costs me nothing beyond the cost of the food. On second thought, maybe he owns a cheese factory. Anyway, I don't disagree with much that he said, although the diabetes reversal rate from bariatric surgery is lower than he states.Oh my I don't even know where to begin on this video.
News Flash bariatric surgery does not cure diabetes. What it does do is for a while in a high percentage of individuals provide them with excellent BG control. The same occurs with rapid weight and sustain weight loss so that one is on the lower end of the normal BMI scale
Diabetes type 2 is often an issue of insulin resistance, but in actuality it is often much more than just that. It is by far not a one dimensional disease.
By the doctors own admission he says multiple times that if you follow his clinics protocols you will be cured. Following a protocol dietary or whatever is not a cure. Everyone in this forum follows some protocol and no one is cured. They can at best manage their diabetes with some able to obtain normal BSs
He does have some good points that many forum members follow but that is not a cure.
As for existing meds not treating the issues and are not affective nor prevent future complications, that is simply not true just like his statement that bariatric surgery cures 90% of the people.
Thought some research points to diminishing returns on how low one needs to keep ones BG levels to eliminate complications, there is both antidotal and research that indicates the lower ones A1C is to normal with minimal post meal spikes one can dramatically reduce complications and reverse existing ones over a number of years.
Again with no disrespect to you, I personally find this type of claim offensive even though I practice some of his dietary guidelines
Of course what he says is nuanced and one can agree with pieces of what he says but his basic premise is not correct and to hypothesize that if you want to get 'well' then dump your meds because they are not treating the underlining problem is just not correct and that if you use your meds you will keep getting worse is just not correct. To be fair he doesn't say "cure" much, but "reversal", although "curable" is in the blurb below the video.
