Has anyone been stopped from driving a fork lift truck at work because they have started using insulin?

No but I think they should is it more than 3200 kg

Depends on if you can feel hypoglycaemia coming on should not be a problem if controlled well

it can lift about a ton and a half, but not sure its overall weight,

apparently its our companies policy to not let anyone using insulin drive mechanical handling machinery! yet I can drive on our roads...............just seems a bit strange as I could lose my job.

It's sounds like a big old truck if it can lift that amount of weight

Different companies have different policies I think it's due to insurances but I don't think they can sack you for it unless your self employed

Diabetes mellitus

• When managed by diet alone or treated by tablets this condition is normally acceptable if well controlled, and if there are no complications, for example diabetic eye problems affecting vision

• The use of insulin is normally acceptable as Long as there is satisfactory control and recognition
of warning symptoms of hypoglycemia. Required visual standards must be met

• Continuing fitness will need to be kept under review.

There you go hope it helps you to stay working
