Hi Sue I can see just why you are concerned about your friend, her Bs are very high. it seems quite shocking that she appears not to be better supported by her diabetes team.
If you look through the various posts here you will find plenty of information that you can give her, or better still, if she is able get her to look.
I am on insulin, Novorapid 3 times daily and Lantus before bedtime and I test before I eat and then 2 hrs later and yor BS should be down in the 6s. When I began to eat low carb I tested 1 hr after a meal, to see how much the food i'd eaten affected me, but i'v relaxed a bit with that. I also test before bed.
It may be very difficult for her to cut out the sugar in her tea, but It would be a start, and there are loads of subtitutes out there.
it may be useful to look at the low carb threads to give you a guide about reducing carbs.
I'm pleased she has you as a friend and support, so you arm yourself with info, it's all here
All the best
Kate
