Worried Mum Of 10 Year Old With Type 1

Hiya,
Oh they are low aren’t they.. maybe the heat? Jayden has had a few low readings recently but we have just adjusted his insulin to carb ratio - do you have your ratio yet? Also have you started carb counting? It’s great.
Jayden has two glucose tablets when he has low readings and can feel it coming on straight away as he shakes. The glucose brings it up perfectly, he tests again in 15 mins then if above 4 he has a rich tea biscuit, he enjoys that bit
How are you getting on with your snacks?
And how is your mum doing - is she not on here?

Hi there @Jayden2407 .
Sounds like you are both doing really good with this diabetes thing.
Nice that you are keeping posting, just to mention, are you aware of the
children, teens, young adults and parents sub forum that is available on the main site?
You will find a lot of people on there exactly in the same position as you and your son.
A lot of the time the younger ones choose to stay away from the general diabetes discussion bit of the site.
Keep that positive attitude and you'll soon be masters giving advice to others
It seems we are both posting at the same time here.
I'm sending messages to you and vice versa.

Hi

Yes I have seen that bit but to be honest I’m not entirely sure how to work this site haha I just post and hope for the best! Do I go on there and just add new topic?

Thank you

Morning. Can't believe I'm going to try and explain how things on here work. I'm worse than useless with all this technology stuff.
Here goes.
Go on to and tap the Parents section for instance.
You should see a green box " Post new thread ". Press the box.
You will then have a "Create thread" screen. You'll be asked for a thread title. Once you've typed in the title you'll be good to go in the box below. Once you've finished press " create thread " and it should all go ok.
You've actually done the process already by creating the posts we are chatting on

Haha thanks! That’s what I thought as I have already posted! However I didn’t want to start a new “topic” which confused me... it doesn’t take much to be honest! Thanks for explaining
How are you today?

Hi @Jayden2407 . I'm having an easy day today thank you for asking.
Diabetes, after so many years tends not to play such a significant part of daily life as it is for you and your son at the moment I guess.
Don't get me wrong, I never ignore it but it's just part of everyday life.

Hope your day is going well. You'll be getting ready for school holidays soon I hope.

@therower I imagine..

That’s the part am actually looking forward to in the future for my son. Taking it well and dealing with it but he’s so much to learn still but will grow with it and will become part of every day life

Easy days are my Sunday routine! I have a 17 month old as well as Jayden, we’re off to my mums as she is getting the paddling pool out for her grandchild (and me) haha do you have kids/grandkids?

We are indeed, Jayden brakes up from school on the 21st, turns 11 on the 24th then starts high school in September he’s nervous but I’m sure all kids are!

We’re also looking forward to our family holiday to Majorca in 6 weeks, any tips on taking supplies, sun etc?? I know I have to take double everything and out diabetes nurse said she’ll do us a letter.
