Hi,
When I have a cup of tea with milk and sweeteners my bg goes up by 3 full points not long after.
This happens morning noon and night. I use sweetex. And semi skimmed surely this is not right,
HiAs others have said, the milk in your tea will probably have some impact, but 3 is quite an impact. What sort of milk are you using? Counter-intuitively, full fat milk has slightly fewer carbs than semi-skimmed, and even fewer than the skimmed variant.
@ally1 - Do you like full milk? Although it has a few more calories, and more fat than skimmed milk, there are fewer carbs. If you can stomach it, it might be worthwhile swapping for a few days and seeing how you go.
Personally, I stick with semi-skimmed as I don't like full milk in hot drinks, so I accept completely full milk isn't for everyone.
I Will try green tea. As wellYou could try Lactofree milk which is lower in carbs but more expensive. You'll need to test the sweetener against your meter as some folk do get a rise even with artificial sweeteners ( and they do have a tendency to take the brakes off appetite control). Green tea is nice and you don't need milk or sugar.
