Wrong insulin

I have taken 10 units of Lantos instead of 5 units of Humolog before breakfast. Any action needed?
 
You will have to watch your BG over the next 24 hours as you may find your fasting BG drops lower than normal.

Test every hour and eat simple carbohydrates to bring your BG back up to a normal level if need be.

Did you still take your humalog with breakfast?

if I had done this I would just be more aware of my activity for the next 18 or so hours and do some blood testing every couple hours to ensure I didn't drop too much

what is your normal Lantus dose ??

My normal Lantus is 10 before bedtime.
I have not taken my usual Humolog of 5 units.
I had a BG of 6.2 before breakfast and 14.5 two hours after breakfast and Lantos. Will keep testing.
 
Ok -- so to summarise...........

10 units lantus last evening
10 units lantus this morning

no Humalog with breakfast this morning

safest option is to ring your Diabetic nurse for advice.

if it were me in that scenario I would be taking 1/2 lantus dose this evening ( so 5 units -- or 4 units if a 2u dosing pen )
and normal novalog doses with meals

and lots of testing
 
Nurse advised take 1/2 usual Humolog before lunch, continue as usual but take no Lantos before bedtime. Test and avoid driving today if possible.
Thanks to all for advise given. Perhaps less Rioja would help.
