Morning
Basically i had a couple of nasy infections, was tired, and extremly overweight, went to my doctor who sent me for a GTT, couldnt even have the test because my blood sugars were at 11 on the morning of my test (nurse took a few finger prick tests before i had a blood test), she advised me that 11 was to high to have a GTT and so i had a fasting blood test done, the nurse rang me the next day and i made an appointment to see my doctor and she told me that i was type 2 diabetic, explained what type 2 was, didnt really go into the food side of it, i asked for a meter was told i dont need to test and was sent away - head spinning! saw a dietitian who was telling me to eat porridge and furit with yoghurt for breakfast and a jacket potato filled with baked beans for lunch - little did i know that all is to much carb for me! - i saw another nurse who was going to check my feet and blood pressure and managed to get a script for a meter and some stips from her - having that meter was a life saver! now i knew what i could and couldnt eat....but my numbers were never that high - even if i ate macdonals for lunch - full combo, still got readings of under 7.
anyway - joined a gym, ate low carb - lost 45 kg. Finally i got to have my GTT, months and months later, it came back as prediabetic not full diabetic - i have learnt about pre diabetes and type 2 myself - i searched the internet and found this great site - without this site i would still be eating what my dietitian was telling me to eat - to me that is to much carb! im pretty much on my own - im not allowed anymore test strips because im not "diabetic" but i still live as though i am.....i have a GTT once a year.
