Hi all,

I started on the Ypsopump about a month ago.

Since I started, my insulin requirements have increased by 25%. My diet and exercise level hasn’t changed.

My time in range has not really improved by much, maybe 1-2% better

I also feel like I have put on weight since I started. In the last few weeks my clothes have felt tighter and less comfortable.

Did anyone else experience this when changing to Ypsopump?

Also, my basal:bolus ratio is currently 80:20 which seems unbalanced. When I try to increase my carb ratios, I have hypos.

A bit confused by it all!

Has anyone else experienced similar?

I’m assuming you were on MDI previous to being on the pump?

If that were the case usually a lot of people who move from MDI to pump find they use more insulin which in turn can cause weight gain. When I went onto hybrid closed loop I ended up using more insulin which did cause me to gain some weight.

You’re still early days with the pump so it’s unlikely you’ll see big changes straight away in regards to time in range and may have to talk to your team to tweak some settings to improve this further.

An 80/20 split of basal:bolus although it may seem unbalanced a lot of diabetics do have an unbalanced split, as long as it works for you I wouldn’t worry too much my split is around 60/40.
