On Tuesday, there was a huge breakthrough: researchers from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MiT) managed to halt type 1 diabetes in mice for six months. We've looked at the massive impact this could have in a video.
As exciting as the breakthrough is, it's unlikely to be applied to humans for a few years. And in the meantime, we need to keep eating a healthy diet to make sure our blood glucose levels remain well controlled.
If you need a bit of culinary inspiration, have a look at our 2016 Diabetes Cookbook. Our personal favourites? Coconut chia breakfast with berries, or bacon and leek quiche, or lamb cutlets with roasted celeriac and peas, chocolate cheesecake - we could go on for hours.
