I had a McDonalds meal over Christmas (yes, I know...) and noticed that the individual food packs no longer show Total Carbs but only Sugar content and even that as a % of RDA. I queried this with McD and they say that due to new EU regs they have to now show Sugar content as well as Fat
"As part of new European legislation which comes into force in December, there are new legal requirements for pre-packed food items and this states that we must now provide sugar and saturated fat content on our packaging. Due to us having limited room to provide all nutritional information, we have taken the decision to remove the protein and carbohydrate content. I’m sorry for any disappointment this may cause."
This is pretty stupid of the EU and not the fault of McD. Anyone know of any use in having just Sugar listed on food packaing? It reflects an incredible ignorance within the EU of nutrition and ignores the needs of diabetics. McD do say as I already knew that their tray sheets have full nutirition info which is excellent.
