Yes I certainly have high carb foods but only very ocassionally.
As for potatoes, rice and bread I have these quite regularly but in much smaller quantities than previously.
I think that is a common point of view. I must admit now that I know what makes me spike and since by T2 has come under control I rarely test. Nothing seems to bring me above an 8.
I got my Hb1Ac down from 69 to 42 and managed to lose 1.5 stone in 4 months by cutting back (not cutting out completely) on carbs and increasing exercise regime.
There is lots of stuff on the internet including forums such as this one. Read lots of posts and try and get the "big picture" rather than taking one persons view. What worked for me was reducing weight (look out for hidden carbs), increasing exercise based on a positive outlook.
A few threads have referred to High Intensity Training which Dr Michael Moseley referred to in BBC's Horzon earlier in 2012.
After a brief warmup of gentle cycling (several minutes), pedal as fast as you can for 20 seconds
Cycle gently for 2 minutes to catch your breath
Cycle all-out again...
