    Freestyle libre and Tattoos

My arms are heavily tattoed, I have just started with the Libre sensors. The first one seems to match very closley with my blood levels (minus a short delay as expected) Does anyone else have lots of tattoos that use them?

    Pumps? CGM? no clue!

Thank you very much for your time in replying. That is a very good explanation. Much appreciated. Is there a way to find out local guidelines before this meeting do you think? I'd love to be more clued up on the criteria before hand.

    Pumps? CGM? no clue!

I've been type 1 for coming up to 5 years. I'm 38. My control has just started to slip, as I hypo awareness. People have thrown about the terms pump and cgm etc. I have no idea what a pump is? What a cgm is? I am really at the bottom of the spectrum in regards to understanding what the...

    High blood sugar after breakfast

Hi Scotty, 5.5 is bang in the middle of the guideline ranges of 4-7. So I would aim always to get as close to this as possible. 5.9 is 100% not to low at all. Closer we type 1's get to this and keep it this close for the first years of diagnosis the better. Excellent control when first...

Theresa May and her "shocking disease"

My management of my type 1 is down to me and me alone. If I was at top level in gvmt or not. I have to take charge of my diet, lifestyle and dose. With or without a large salary. So to say she has an advantage over some of us in the position she is in I would have to disagree with. We all...

Possible vaccine to reverse type 1

There is a Mono peptide study going on in the uk at the moment which is the same thing. If you have been diagnosed within 100 days you can try to get in. Luckily I am being tested shortly to see if I am suitable. Cardiff, london, birmingham are all involved. I joined something called ADDRESS...

Low Blood Sugar without problems - anyone?

possibly running higher for a few weeks. But I would say aiming for 5-8 is pretty high. Keeping around 5 will give you a great reduction in potential health risks. The higher up you aim for the higher the risks become. 4.5-5.5 is my target personally. none diabetics have an average reading...

Type 1 Diabetes & Weight Loss

I was 82kg on admition to hospital with my DKA very serious like yourself on the 9th of may. By the 17th of may I was back to 94kg. So it is 100% possible to put on so much weight after correct treatment resumes. I looked amazing at 82kg, never looked better! But ironically had never been so...

    Feeling positive

In the same boat, severe DKA admitted to a&e on the 7th may this year. Diagnosed on the 9th, and according to blood work, urine and glucose levels I seem to be right back on the healthy track. Soaked up as much info as I possibly could read reams on the subject. I am looking at this as I am...

Waking up at 3 a.m to check blood glucose?

It is to check for a phenomenon called Somogyi, where a blood glucose drop in the night causes your body to produce hormones that raise your blood sugar by morning. All without you knowing. If you have low levels in the night a small snack before bed or reduction in lantus might be called...
