    Hba1c and conceiving...

I hVe a freestyle libre and can honestly say that I wouldn't have got through my pregnancy so far (only 15+6) without it. It's invaluable. Type 1 diabetic since 2007

    Hba1c question

Hi all. I've been super dooper keen on my levels for the past month (newly pregnant) and feeling a bit disheartened at my latest hba1c. 7.5 in old money. That's about were I was pre pregnancy, and I know my levels are loads better than then. How long has your hba1c taken to drop a fair...

    Strange severe Night Time Hypos

If you have lost lots of weight your long acting insulin may be too high. I had a very stupid 'specialist' who put me on levamir/ novorapid and said its one unit of levamir per kg body weight per day. I was on 60 units of levamir for two years and hardly had a single jab of novorapid in all...

    Can't be wrong result but...

I rarely eat a lot for lunch so don't often have a jab! Have spoken to my DN and am in the process of switching my levamir to evening time, hopefully eradicating my hypos! Charlie :) Type 1 diabetic since 2007 Hba1c Oct '13= 58. March '13= 61

    Travelling with diabetes

I spoke to my diabetic team about this when I went to Oz. I was going for 4 months and the lady said they are only allowed to give a maximum of [cant really remember, think it was 3] months worth of stuff. She then very kindly gave me a big pad and told me to go work out what I needed in "three...

    Can't be wrong result but...

Hi noblehead, no I'm not. DN suggested taking levamir later in the morning so I could have a couple of units of novorapid first thing to counteract the rise. Splitting it sounds good, is it a 50:50 split 12 hours apart? (Obviously need to have a chat with her). Another idea may be to have my...

    Can't be wrong result but...

Sorry, pressed the wrong button! I have my levamir in the morning, I did have it at 7am but they would rise from about 3am. I now have it at 10-11 am and it still rises some nights a unit or two from 3/4am but from 7-10 it will rise 3 units or so. The afternoon hypos are a nightmare, lucozade...

    Can't be wrong result but...

Had a review at the docs today and I'm a bit shocked at my hba1c.. It's lower than I thought! I wouldn't say my control is great, I can have readings from 2-18 (although rarely that high, usually up to 12ish). I'm on levamir and novorapid. The levamir doesn't work 24 hrs so my levels will rise...

Why do TV programs say you need insulin to treat a Hypo

I can still see in my head a crime drama on tv years ago. The evil grandparents locked their diabetic granddaughter in her bedroom and she died because she had a hypo and couldn't get her insulin....!!! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Spaghetti spikes Blood Glucose after 3-7hours

Yep! I'm a really deep sleeper so sometimes sleep through the alarm but my boyfriend is ace and literally shakes me awake! I had a useless 'specialist' who put me on twice as much levamir as I needed (60u/ day!) which resulted in a really really bad hypo one night (thank god for my boyfriend or...

Spaghetti spikes Blood Glucose after 3-7hours

Hi all, no real advice to give but I experienced something similar last night. Had a Chinese takeaway, jabbed 1unit/10g carbs as normal. Sugars were 4.something 2 hours later at midnight (yay!). I didn't test at 3am as normal because they were good at 12, woke up in the morning and they were 17...
