Im 52 years old, have had problems with blood sugar since a teenager, had diabetes during my three pregnancies but once over all treatment stopped. Diagnosed Type 2 12 years ago, but when my blood sugars hit 32 whilst on 3g of Metformin a day was put on insulin, Developed allergy to said insulin, been tested at immunlogy clinic John Radcliffe an so far 9 different insulins I am allergic to. I currently take Humalog 15 units 3 times a day and Lantus 30mg twice a day along with 1g Metformin twice a day and Dapagliflozin, which has been my saviour bringing my sugars down to under 10 and occasionally between 5 and 7. I take piriton 6 times a day to keep allergy rash down. I have steroids on standby for when I over react and my airways close up, then off to hospital for a couple of days. I am likely to be de sensitised to the insulin when my Diabetic Doc finds out how to do it!!! Was only just tested and have been told I am not Type 2 but Type 1. Apologies for a long post.
