    Work Problems

I am the same as Eliminator, low in the morning, 10'ish, lunch then in the 20's for a few hours then back to 10 in time for Dinner. If I get past 25 I feel like ****, listless and ready for a sleep, which is not an option while working. I then get cramp that is a real killer for 30 minutes or...

Test when you feel ill - gp horror story

It's a point of view I guess. But it's a definition not a given. I am a diabetic not a diabetes, but I suffer from that condition. I don't attempt to hide the fact, I never shy away from an opinion on the subject, if I have something to say. I have even been known to speak publically on the...

Test when you feel ill - gp horror story

At a recent Occupational Health visit with a Doctor I was asked how many times a day I test. I replied that I tested when I thought I needed testing, about two or three times a day. He then told me that my Company had a right to be concerned about anyone that tests more than once a day. I was...

Swine flu, are we at greater risk?.

I really feel for you, and yes the head thing is not good. I took two ibuprofen and one tiny codeine every four hours. Checked with the GP and this is not a problem with Tamiflu. Go to bed for a few days, watch TV, drink at least two 1.5ltr bottles of Volvic a day and sleep as much as you can...

Free Accu-Chek Aviva Nano - Comments

I get the whole thing about some needing a bigger meter / strips. The elderly for instance. But why can they not make something discrete. If it works for you then that's great. I carry around a smartphone that has more computing power than most desktops. I just wish the same level of technology...

Free Accu-Chek Aviva Nano - Comments

A while ago I ordered a free meter from, well I can't remember where now but that is not important. It arrived in a week or so and me being me I put it in a draw. Last Monday I ran out of strips and got the Nano out of the draw to try it. What a major shock when I un-wrapped it. Nice black...

Swine flu, are we at greater risk?.

Well that was nowhere near as bad as I thought, just another Flu really. Many thanks for all the well wishes, four days in now and all but gone. The Tamiflu is a bit of a mind bender but apart from that I think another coulple of days and back to normal. :P

Swine flu, are we at greater risk?.

Diagnosed today with H1N1 (Swine Flu) and put on "Tamiflu". 45, Male, Type 1 for the last six years, no prior history, IT Manager. So it's a week off work, well, limited to the PDA anyway, and suffer the symptoms. Not really sure if I should be that worried or not, keep hearing on the news...

    Employment and Diabetes

@ LittleGreyCat - Many thanks for that, and you could have a point. But just in case I am now documenting situations when I am being treated in a differant way to my colleagues. I went through a few onlice cases of complaints and tribunal's last night, just looking for some direction really. I...

    Employment and Diabetes

I am convinced that my Emplorer is trying to get shot of me. Incresed workloads, impossible deadlines, short notice European travel. I feel like my head is going to explode, levels all over the place due to the stress. I became type 1 while working for them. I was on a major project, 16hr days...

    Employment and Diabetes

Can I suggest a new section in the forum for employment experiance for us Diabetics? It would be really useful for me to get some real life experiance of those who have suffered as a result of words like "reasonable adjustments" and "Occupational Health". Would be great to have some expert...

Not sure what this is but......

Over the last few months I have just about lost all feeling in my left foot, well the toes anyway. I have also started to get allot of pain from my left hip. GP said it was a groin strain and gave me a pack of diazepam and put pain killers on my script. Looking at the net I think it could be...
