    Been in denial now freaking....

The key to longevity is to realise the implications of not keeping to a good diet i.e. losing limbs and losing eyesight then find little things you can have as a treat to reward yourself like honey with yoghurt or there's a great company called Pundits who do a low carb milk chocolate that's...

Type 1 Denial and very poor management

Buy her a wheel chair and white cane and put it in her bedroom as a constant reminder of the implications of poor management. Sounds like only shock therapy will work now.

Type 2 hi, struggling what to eat at evening meal, non-carbs

My main meal in the evening usually consists of fresh Chicken, Turkey or Pork - so much you can do to spice it up with Cajun spice, Piri Piri etc (not too much though as I haven't checked but Im sure theres carbs in those spices). Add a little Coleslaw and a few garlic mushrooms, maybe some...

Decision to abandon LCHF just for Christmas

I'm taking Christmas and boxing day off. Will probably have half a dozen mice pies, biscuits and sweet deserts but that's it. My a1c has dropped from 89 to 48 in 3 months since diagnosis and lost over 2 stone so I deserve it. The good thing is I know I can easily switch back to LCHF and continue...

2hours after eating a little dinner!

Do you have a source for this?

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

That wouldn't keep me full until dinner and doesn't explain why my levels started fine and suddenly increased with the same diet.

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

Thank you, that's the first helpful and reassuring response I've had. I'll bear these things in mind [emoji1]

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

I do cheat and have a sandwich at lunch plus benecol yoghurt for cholesterol and the occasional dark choc chunk for a treat. It all seems to add up. Not on statins, despite GP trying to start me on them.

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

I don't mean it's miserable, I meant it would make ME miserable. I understand keto is perfectly ok for some people but I don't think I could as I'm a fussy eater.

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

I generally eat meat, eggs, salad, mushrooms things like that. I've just started taking cod liver oil and vitamin supplements for aching legs so maybe that affects BS levels.

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

I don't think I could go keto, would just make me miserable and that's no life. Not sure what glycogen in liver is or why fasting is necessary so maybe I need to research that.

High Blood Levels, no idea why.

I was diagnosed T2 a couple of months ago upon which I went on Metformin and full LCHF. Did loads of research and food testing to see what foods I could tolerate and what to avoid other than the obvious. The first 6 weeks went great, lost over a stone and got my levels down to under 6 on a good...

    Carb Counting App

Be wary of using these generic all-in-one websites for nutritional information. Ive found a lot of data is just wrong. For example it stated there are no carbs in a pork sausage, which is just wrong. Its best to get a general idea of foods (e.g. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/foods) and...

    Glucose testing

I am learning to ignore the numbers on my metre, and only pay attention to the DIFFERENCE between my last and current reading, and base my future choice of meal or snack based on that difference. T2.

    Kidney Pain

I've been diagnosed T2 in the last few weeks and prescribed Metformin 3 x 500g per day. As soon as I started taking them I had back ache (which isn't uncommon for me) but it hasn't gone away and I'm inclined to think it might be my kidneys rather than my back. Anyone had any experience of this...
